November 2005 Its been a little while since i updated anything on this site...so heres a bringing up to date bit. Firstly, due to an unforseen circumstance or two we had to cancel some dates over the summer . Id like to apologise to anybody this affected but it really couldnt be helped (moving house can be a bit tricky). Theres not been any new dates added but some stuff might well happen next year. Things will be a bit different than before although im not quite sure how so its best not to say too much. Our album is also for sale now as a downloadable version from the nice people at Woven Wheat Whispers , and laso of course from ourselves. Just drop me an email at info@salmusic.co.uk. I'll also be giving the website a spring clean over christmas (I know thats ambitious, but you've got to try) so hopefully it'll all be new for the new year. Until then, hope you have a good time. Cheers, Paul May 2005 Just added a couple more gigs that will take place over the summer...we'll be playing in Orkney, Shetland, at the ISle of Bute Festival, Both sides of the Tweed, The Ceilidh Place and more! Should be good. We'd like to say a belated thanks to everybody that came along to Kelso Folk Club a couple of weeks ago. Its a great club and i would advise anyone to go along to the Cobbles Inn if theyre in Kelso on a Friday night. Right, time for lunch.
April 2005 Hi nice folks...bit of news on the record front....due to never being happy with anything, and not being able to leave well enoght alone, we've had the CD remastered and also added some new artwork. However, we had already sold a few of the old ones so if anyone who bought the old one, would like the new one, if they could email me on info@salmusic.co.uk, we can swap addresses and sort it out. Sorted. We're playing at Kelso folk club on the 8th April which should be good, and as usual theres lots of stuff in the pipeline for the summer and beyond. Its a long pipe is all i'm saying
March 2005 Well its long overdue but we'd like to say thanks and hello to everybody we met at Celtic Connections. Although its a while ago it doesnt seem like that long in my head. I really should have put this up on the site sooner, but i find the thought of doing computer stuff really off putting and the reality far less scary. Does anybody else get that. In fact i quite enjoy computers when i get going....Anyway, back on tangent we've a couple of gigs coming up in Aberdeen this month on the gigs page and a few more things in the pipeline but you know what they say about counting chickens and all that! On that note...
January 2005 (again) 2 updates in a month...almost unheard of. Anyway the gig last week with Frances Black went great. We both had a good time and Frances and her band were lovely.. But, looking to the future were supporting Kathryn Williams on Friday again in the Strathclyde Suite of the concert hall. Kick off 8pm. Theres now a couple of songs from the album available on the site and also some live tracks on the listen page.
January 2005 The record is finished. Long live the CD, and here it is....Sal - Red Book Recording
We'll be playing a couple of gigs at the Celtic Connections festival on Thursday 13th Jan between 5 & 7 in the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow, then were supporting Frances Black in the Strathclyde Suite of the Concert Hall about 9ish i think. If anything else comes up you'll hear it here first. Probably. November 2004 Howdy ho folks. It's been a long time hasn't it? Apologies for the enormous delay but we've been frantically trying to get oor CD finished. Ic an hear the doubters now, but almost confident it will see the light of day before Chrimble. In fact i mightput stickers on it that say "perfect gift" or then again maybe not. On the playing gigs front were playing in the 13th note on King Street in Glasgow on Friday 26th November with Ally Kerr. Im looking forward to that, and in January we will be playing at Celtic connections in Glasgow. Confirmed so far is Thursday13th January in GLasgow Concert hall but (hopefully) more dates to follow. Any more dates will be (haphazardly) posted here
June 2004 OK, so ive managed to kind of break the front page. Ive got a nice picture that i wanted to put on but for some reason you can't see it on the web. One of those things i suppose. On another note, if anyones in Glasgow this weekend and doesnt want to watch the football, were playing at Stereo on Kelvinhaugh Street. The doors are at 8 and were on at 9.30ish give or take. Entry is a couple of quid. Also a couple more gigs up north on the gigs page and hopefully i'll get the long awaited mailing list up and running soon too.
March 2004 Ive not written much here for a while so i thought it was about time for an update. So, whats happening......the album recording is well underway...theres half a dozen tracks finished and we've more days booked in the studio soon, so given a bit of luck recording should be finished by the end of June. Tracks recorded thus far ar Truth & Consequence, a rerecording of Picture Postcard Town, a new as yet untitled song, Serenah and Broken. Theres a couple of gigs in the pipeline too coming up which i'll not say too much about just now until they're confirmed. Until then, theres some new ones on the gigs page including a support for one of Magnus's musical models, Andy White on the 4th June in Dr. Drakes, Aberdeen
January 2004 Well it's not very sunny outside today. Thats because its actually February even though it says January at the top of the page. Anyway, an update here is long overdue. We took a small break over the Autumn but now have new material which we will be playing over the next few gigs. But the big news is that we were awarded a Danny Kyle award at this years Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow. We got to play another 2 gigs there as a result one in the concert hall and afterward at the festival club in the Central Hotel. I think as well that this gives us another gig at next years festival. So, a good start to the year and one of my new years resolutions is to keep the site up to date through the year. As my other resolutions have been going well this one will too so you'll hear it here first!
July 2003 It's very sunny outside today, and has been for a while. However we were shut away from it all weekend with the curtains tightly drawn recording a couple of new songs. I think what i might do is put one up on the internet somewhere. This brings me round nicely to the fact that we now have pages and whole songs to download at mp3.com and soundclick. With a bit of luck there should be links on the front page and here and if anybodys up for it, listening tolick the songs moves us up the charts for whatever its worth. The songs on these sites should be updated, most probably infrequently, but theres going to be live stuff and other bits and pieces. Also, theres a few new links to other various music sites on the links page now too, some of which were on, some were not. On the gigging front, Glasgow was good last month and weve got gigs in Edinburgh and Dundee coming up, as well as in Uddingston next April! Forward planning is the new rock & roll. May 2003 Theres another couple of gigs just been posted on the gigs page. We will be playing in the Market Bar in Inverness on Saturday the 7th of June at 10pm (so you can all watch the Scotland game first). Then later in June were playing in Glasgow thanks to some nice folks at Devilseye promotions. Theyve got a very nice site at www.devilseye.co.uk Hope to see you soon Heres another of our randomly timed updates. Firstly we'd like to thank everybody that put us up, fed us, and came along to the gigs, and especially Allan in Inverness and Rosemary and Gordon in Evanton. Theres a couple of upcoming gigs in Aberdeen on the gigs page and were waiting to hear back about some possible shows in Edinburgh. If and when we find out i'll send it out on our all new mailing list which anybody that wants to can join on the left hand side of the page. And one last thing is that our CD now has a couple of live tracks on it from Celtic Connections and these are of course available by contacting us. Fee is negotiable March 2003 well, i thought it was about time i updated this here site. So whats been happening....At the end of January we played in the final of the Daily Record 192 bigbreak songwriting thingy which is as much as i'm going to say about it. We also had a very good time at Celtic Connections in Glasgow so hopefully we'll be playing more in the central belt later in the year. Anyway just now, were working on some new songs and our next gigs are booked for April in Inverness, Gairloch and Evanton and so barring disasters there should be new material, although if you've never heard us before i suppose you wouldn't know the difference anyway. See ya'll soon. Dec
2002 Hi ya'all and welcome to our website. After talking about it for the better part of this year we've finally got things up and running (not without more than a bit of help). Hopefully we'll have gigs in Glasgow and Edinburgh to put on the site soon and a few dates up in Inverness also look like they might happen. In the meantime were long overdue another recording which may or may not take place in January and if it does we'll put a track up on the site. Any messages, hints, tips or suggestions are also greatly appreciated and heres wishing you all a happy Chrimbo and great new year festivities.
